ESPN reporter rails against Draymond Green’s claims of an agenda against him: ‘Full of crap’

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon has no use for Draymond Green’s claims of an agenda to portray him as an “angry black man.”

The reporter rolled his eyes and went off on the Warriors’ controversial big man Friday while hearing Green’s comments after picking up his fifth technical foul of the postseason and also dealing with “racially charged comments” being directed his way during Golden State’s Game 2 loss to Minnesota on Thursday

“Oh, God. Go away, Draymond,” MacMahon said on the “Brian Windhorst & Hoops Collective” podcast. “Shut up, dude. Do not play victim here. Don’t play the victim here. Stop doing crazy and stupid stuff. We’re sick of you doing stupid, flagrant, crap on a regular basis. It’s not an agenda, Draymond. You get break after break, after break, after break, after break. And you keep on pushing the line.

“It was not an agenda to make you look angry when you punched your teammate in the face. It was not an agenda to make you look angry when you grabbed Rudy Gobert and put him in a sleeper hold. It was not an agenda to make you look angry when you punched or smacked or whatever the hell you want to call it Jusuf Nurkic upside the head. … Draymond is full of crap. He’s so full of crap his breath stinks.”

Green’s comments Thursday came after a drama-filled game that saw him generate yet another technical foul, while also dealing with heckling fans, including one who used vile commentary.

While being guarded by Minnesota’s Naz Reid in the second quarter, Green extended his left arm and smacked Reid in the head while trying to embellish a foul.

With five technicals now in nine games this postseason, Green is just two technicals or flagrant away from being suspended for one game.

The Timberwolves also released a statement saying a fan had made “racially charged comments” toward Green in the fourth quarter, while another fan received an ejection for an “incident” with Green that violated the league’s fan policy during Minnesota’s 117-93 win.

Green did not provide context behind his quote regarding what set him off, making just his brief statement.

“Looked like the angry black man. I’m not an angry black man,” Green said. “I’m a very successful, educated black man with a great family, and I’m great at basketball and great at what I do.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the setback that Green’s competitive nature occasionally leads to him going over the proverbial line with his antics, and MacMahon noted how it seems Green always finds himself in these types of situations.

Green has been suspended six times during his career, per The Athletic, with his absence for Game 5 in the 2016 NBA Finals playing a critical role in the Cavaliers rallying from a 3-1 deficit.

“Like almost every game,” MacMahon said. “Why is Draymond the only one in these playoffs when every time there’s a foul that he wants to embellish, he ends up smacking the defender upside the head? Why is he the only one? Am I missing like this rash of forearms to guys that just commit a foul? A little touch foul out on the perimeter? Have I missed the rest of them.”

Green and the Warriors host the Timberwolves for a critical Game 3 on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. ET, with Minnesota installed as 5.5-point favorites at BetMGM with Warriors star Steph Curry sidelined.
