Jamal Adams is back.

The former New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks safety has signed with the Detroit Lions practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who reported the transaction shortly before Adams’ former teams kicked off in Week 14 at MetLife Stadium.

Schefter notes that Adams is expected to be elevated to Detroit’s full 53-man roster, and that the former one-time All-Pro had been “eyeing” a shot with a contender.

The Lions, who improved to 11-1 on Thanksgiving Day with a win over the Chicago Bears, add the three-time Pro Bowler, who last played for the Tennessee Titans earlier this season, but was released on October 17 — his 29th birthday — per request.

Adams was a Pro Bowl safety for the Jets in 2018 and 2019 before the team traded him to the Seahawks, where he secured another Pro Bowl bid in 2020.

Adams, drafted No. 6 overall by the Jets in 2017, has since been largely impacted by injuries.

He has only appeared in 13 NFL games over the last three seasons and hasn’t played in more than 12 since 2019.

Adams is joining a Lions secondary that includes Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph starting at safety.
