Lions fans wasted no time welcoming back four-time Pro Bowler Frank Ragnow on Wednesday.
Shortly after reports emerged that the 29-year-old center was coming out of retirement to rejoin the team, Detroit faithful flooded the Instagram of his wife, Lucy Ragnow, with well-wishes.
“WELCOME BACK!!!! We have missed you guys! The work is not done! LFG!!!!!!!” one fan exclaimed in the comments of Lucy’s most recent post.
“We all just saw the news about Frank. On behalf of every fan, we appreciate the families of the players too because we know this is a sacrifice for you too. Thank you and can’t wait to see you all back at Ford Field!!” another celebrated.
One user even quipped, “Happy Franksgiving! Go 🦁.”
A 2018 first-round pick out of Arkansas, Ragnow has spent his entire career with the Lions, earning Second-team All-Pro nods three times in 2020, 2023 and 2024.
He announced his retirement at the age of 29 in a shocking statement over the summer.
“These past couple of months have been very trying as I’ve come to the realization that my football journey is ending and I’m officially retiring from the NFL,” Ragnow posted on Instagram in June.
“I’ve tried to convince myself that I’m feeling good but I’m not and it’s time to prioritize my health and my families [sic] future. I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is I simply don’t. I have to listen to my body and this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life. The Lions organization has been absolutely incredible throughout this process and I can’t emphasize this enough how grateful I am for this team and all the fans. It was an absolute honor going to battle for you all.”
Ragnow’s initial decision to walk away came after a dominant 15-2 campaign, in which the Lions reached the Divisional Round of the playoffs before being ousted by the Commanders.

At 7-4, the Lions are in the thick of the NFC playoff race with a Thanksgiving Day showdown against the division rival Packers (7-3-1) set for 1 p.m. Thursday.
Detroit is currently on the outside of the NFC playoff picture with the 8-3 Bears atop the NFC North standings.
As to when Ragnow can return to action, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday his “first chance to play for the Lions will come next Thursday vs. the Cowboys, though it is considered unlikely for now, per source. A potential return-to-play date is Dec. 14 at the LA Rams.”
Lucy, a certified Pilates instructor who has been married to Ragnow since 2021, has been a staple at Lions games over the years. They are parents to two children.
