Georgia Tech’s magical season turned sour with a loss to Pitt in Week 13.
A win would have put the Ramblin’ Wreck in the ACC Championship game, but that dream is likely dead, as the Yellow Jackets are now behind a host of teams in the standings with no more conference games left on their schedule.
That makes Friday’s game against Georgia a little awkward.
Of course, the Yellow Jackets would love nothing more than to get one over against their Peach State rivals, but there isn’t really all that much for Georgia Tech to gain from this game.
There isn’t that much for Georgia to gain or lose from this game, either.

Sure, a loss to Georgia Tech would dent the Bulldogs’ College Football Playoff chances, but it likely wouldn’t be enough to keep them out.
Georgia has wins over Texas, Ole Miss and Tennessee, and its only loss came against Alabama, so a second loss to a ranked team wouldn’t be close to a death knell.
Whether they book a place in the SEC Championship game will be decided by the out-of-town scoreboard.
All of this makes handicapping Friday’s “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” game a fun endeavor.
Georgia is clearly the better team, and the Bulldogs are rolling, but it’s absolutely possible that we don’t see the sharpest version of Kirby Smart’s team Saturday.
The same can be said of Georgia Tech, however.

Not only is this a hangover spot after a season-crushing loss to Pittsburgh, but this game has an exhibition feel to it.
Georgia Tech’s offense has been a buzzsaw for most of the season, and the Bulldogs can light it up too, but the circumstances make you wonder if this will be a scrappy tilt with very little flow.
The Under 59.5 seems like a good way to take advantage of the situation Friday.
