College football returns to our TV screens today with the very first game of the 2025 season: the annual Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

This year’s game will be between two Big 12 rivals: No. 17 Kansas State and No. 22 Iowa State, marking both teams’ first times playing in Dublin classic. The winner will gain an early edge in conference standings.

Last season, Iowa State reached the Big 12 title game, where they eventually fell to Arizona. Kansas State was last in action during the 2024 Rate Bowl versus Rutgers; they won the close game, 44-41.

During the longtime rivals’ last meeting in November 2024, Iowa State won 29–21. Iowa State also has the edge in the last five years of matchups, winning four.
