Heroes, zeros from AFC Championship game: Josh Allen let down by offensive line

Heroes, zeros from the Chiefs’ 32-29 win over the Bills in the AFC Championship game on Sunday:

Hero

Who else but Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who won his 17th career postseason game.

Mahomes completed 18-of-26 passes for 245 yards and one TD and rushed for 43 yards and two TDs on 11 carries.

Unsung hero

Xavier Worthy caught six passes for 85 yards and a TD.

The Chiefs rookie receiver also made a massive acrobatic 26-yard leaping catch late in the first half to set up Kansas City’s third TD.

Chiefs

Zero

The Buffalo offensive line failed to block enough to get QB Josh Allen one yard on a fourth-and-1 in the fourth quarter, and, moments later, they failed to hold off a Kansas City blitz that wrecked a fourth-and-5 play the Bills needed to stay alive.

Key stat

16 consecutive games the Chiefs have won in one-score games, dating back to last season.

Sunday night was their 12th this season.
