When the bright lights shine down on the Hard Rock Stadium field in Miami Monday night, the two teams in the spotlight will be trying to punctuate a pair of modern success stories.
Miami, once a college football powerhouse, rebuilt its program into a contender with super, super senior Carson Beck at quarterback, while Indiana, led by coach Curt Cignetti, came out of the abyss and now finds itself in territory it’s never been in before.
Both programs aggressively utilized the transfer portal and started to pay big bucks to bolster their rosters. Both have seen that investment pay dividends. And both will look to use that approach to foster sustained success for years to come.
Like it or not, this is the modern reality of college athletics.
