Igor Shesterkin helped off the ice in potential Rangers injury calamity

The Rangers rocky season may have gotten seriously worse Monday night, when Igor Shesterkin was knocked out of the game with an apparent left leg injury after he fell awkwardly as Utah’s JJ Peterka charged towards him midway midway through the first period at Madison Square Garden.

Shesterkin remained on the ice for several minutes in obvious pain while being attended to by a trainer.

He got to his feet with chants of “Igor” rang through the Garden, but had to be assisted off the ice and replaced by backup Jonathan Quick.

The 30-year-old is in the midst of another standout season and has been a key reason why the Rangers aren’t even in worse shape than they already are, tied for 13th in the Eastern Conference heading into Monday night.
