It is impossible.
Because J.C. Escarra washed out after five minor league seasons with the Orioles. They drafted him 458th overall in 2017, and soon after took away his catching gear. He hit .223 as a first baseman between Double- and Triple-A in 2021, and Baltimore released him on April 6, 2022.
Because he signed the next day with the Kansas City Monarchs, the first of four independent league stops — two in the States, two in Mexico — he would make over the next two years, vowing that he was a catcher again, for the first time since college, and would teach himself what was necessary … using videos he found on the internet.
Because Escarra got married in October 2022, and bought an apartment in his native Miami in January 2023, and knew the $400 he made every two weeks with the Monarchs was not going to pay the mortgage. So Escarra began driving for Uber, and serving as a high school substitute teacher, and delivering food and measuring rooms for a local contractor and coaching 8-year-old Little League and tutoring baseball on the side.
