Jadeveon Clowney headed into free agency this week with his most recent legal matter in his rearview mirror.

The trespassing and failure to identify case the NFL star had been facing following a bizarre run-in with police in South Carolina last year has been dropped, a Rock Hill Municipal Court spokesperson told The California Post on Friday.

A reason for the dismissal was not provided. The Rock Hill Solicitor’s Office confirmed the case’s disposition as well, though it did not explain why either.

A message seeking comment from Clowney’s attorney, Todd Rutherford, was not returned.

Clowney was hit with misdemeanor trespassing and failure to identify charges after he was involved in a dispute with police over a parking spot in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on Sept. 12, 2025.

A Rock Hill Police Department incident report alleged Clowney had parked in an apartment complex lot near a high school football stadium that had been closed to those who were trying to go to the game.

When confronted by an officer about the issue, Clowney told them his aunt lived there, and then he refused to provide identification, according to the incident report.

Clowney, who’s from Rock Hill and played high school football at South Pointe, was arrested and booked at a nearby police station. He was released from custody a short time later.

Clowney ended up signing a contract with the Cowboys just days after the arrest, and once he got settled at the team’s facilities, he told media members he was not concerned about the odd encounter.

“Man,” Clowney said, “that’s been going on my whole life down there. It ain’t nothing new. Just move on from it. I’m here now.”

Clowney went on to play in 13 games for the Cowboys in the 2025 season and led the team with 8 ½ sacks.

The first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft remains unsigned.
