James Conner will be a Cardinal for a little while longer.
The veteran running back signed a two-year, $19 million extension with Arizona on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Conner had been set to become a free agent after the 2024 NFL season.
The two-time Pro Bowler, who turns 30 in May, is enjoying a strong season for the Cardinals, rushing for 705 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games.
Conner is in the midst of his fourth season in Arizona after signing with the team ahead of the 2021 campaign following four seasons with the Steelers.
The Cardinals, currently tied for first place with the Seahawks in the NFC West at 6-5, have been one of the most surprising teams in football through the first 12 weeks of the season.
Conner isn’t the first veteran ball carrier to get an extension from his team in recent weeks.
The Panthers’ Chuba Hubbard, 25, signed a four-year, $33.2 million deal with Carolina in early November.
In October, Alvin Kamara, 29, reached a two-year contract extension worth $24.5 million with the Saints.
The trio of extensions follows a free agency frenzy for running backs last offseason, which saw seven RBs change teams with big-money deals.
