If you missed Joey Chestnut over Fourth of July Weekend at the Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating competition, then you’re in luck, because this Labor Day, the Hot Dog King is back with an appetite for vengeance. On Sept. 2, Netflix will host a live hot dog eating contest pitting Chestnut against his old rival Takeru Kobayashi. The pair haven’t gone dog-to-dog in 15 years, but they are finally reuning for this “wiener take all” competition. Chestnut is the 16-time winner of the “Mustard Yellow Belt” and currently holds the record for most hot dogs (and buns) eaten in 10 minutes (76!). Kobayashi popularized competitive eating as a sport back in 2001 after he doubled the previous record for most hot dogs eaten during the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Championship. Kobayashi has confirmed he will put off retiring until he can out-eat Chestnut “one last time.”
Monday night’s content will be co-hosted by Rob Riggle and WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Garcia (AKA Nikki Bella). Cari Champion and Chris Rose will call the match. Two other events will precede the big dog match: YouTuber and 2015 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest winner Matt Stonie will compete against a TBA competitor, and Guinness World Record holder Leah Shutkever will also be feasting.
