Karl-Anthony Towns-Mitchell Robinson tandem is producing – but not in the way Knicks expected

The Twin Towers alignment, perhaps the most intriguing of any Knicks two-man lineup because of its uniqueness, remains “a work in progress,” according to Tom Thibodeau, but with statistical reasons to feel good about the direction.

And not in the way you’d expect.

In the small sample size of just six games and 33 total minutes heading into Tuesday against the Mavericks, Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson had produced an impressive +25.1 net rating together, according to NBA.com.

That’s because the Knicks were scoring at a rate of 143.9 points per 100 possessions with those two on the court – a ridiculous number compared to the team’s offensive rating of 117.4 for the season.
