Lawrence Tynes laughs over Tom Brady’s critical comments about Daniel Jones’ Giants exit: ‘Raiders were all over him’

Lawrence Tynes has entered the chat.

The former Giants kicker weighed in after Tom Brady was critical of quarterback Daniel Jones’ handling of his exit in New York.

Jones asked for a release from the Giants after dropping to fourth on the depth chart and being sent to the scout team. He’s set to sign with the Vikings for $375,000 as soon as Friday.

“This is funny,” Tynes wrote on X, including a video of Brady’s comments. “The Raiders were all over Daniel Jones and wanted to sign him. You know, the team that Brady is minority owner of.”

The Raiders were indeed interested in Jones after Gardner Minshew’s left collarbone injury ruled him out of the rest of the season.

While calling his first Thanksgiving Day game for Fox Sports — an eventual 27-20 Cowboys win over the Giants at AT&T Stadium — Brady claimed he didn’t know exactly what went down with Jones but still did not approve of how Jones handled the situation.

“I don’t know how that whole situation went down but to think that you’d ask for a release from a team that committed a lot to you is maybe different from how I would’ve handled that,” Brady said.

“I always felt I wanted to get the trust and respect of my teammates regardless of the situation, knowing that I was trying to be the best I could for the team because that was the most important thing.”

Jones notably possessed an injury clause in his contract with the Giants, which would have guaranteed him $23 million for next year if he got injured and couldn’t pass a physical during the offseason.

He signed a four-year, $160 million extension with the Giants ahead of the 2023 season.

The Giants benched Jones last week ahead of the team’s 30-7 loss to the Buccaneers, with Tommy DeVito starting in his place.

Both sides mutually parted ways, owner John Mara said, before Jones joined an NFC Contender in the Vikings.

He is likely to back up both starting quarterback Sam Darnold and backup Nick Mullens, and will be a free agent after the season.
