Livvy Dunne is the recipient of countless lurid comments on her social media, but there was one recurring theme that she found the most awkward.
Dunne, an LSU gymnast and influencer extraordinaire, recently joined fellow LSU athlete Flau’jae Johnson’s Overtime podcast, “Best of Both Worlds with Flau’jae,” and Johnson asked Dunne about the type of comment that she got most tired of.
After thinking about it for a second, Dunne answered, “You know what I had for a really long time in my comment section? People asking for my bathwater.”
Johnson interjected, “Oh! I used to see that! I was like why is they doing that?”
Dunne continued, “What has my life come to? These people [are] begging for bathwater. But it has kind of settled down at this point, but that was a crazy one that I’ll never forget, and I kind of spun it off as a joke. I would kind of say some out of pocket stuff back, which maybe I shouldn’t have, but it was funny at the time.”
Dunne also said it bothers her when people say that her success is not meritocratic.
“One of the things that really annoys me the most is when people say, ‘She doesn’t deserve any of the things that she has’ and that ‘Gymnastics isn’t a real sport’ and stuff like that,” Dunne continued.
“OK, but would you be saying that if you were in my shoes?”
Dunne was a rookie in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, and is dating superstar Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, who also went to LSU.
Skenes credited Dunne for helping him prepare to manage all of the exposure that has come from his highly anticipated rookie season.
“It’s been great, she’s helped me in a lot of ways in terms of managing all the hype I guess, if you will, and how to manage everything that goes around being a pro athlete because she’s kinda lived it. So it’s been great,” Skenes said before his MLB debut.
