The Los Angeles Chargers expanded their colorful wardrobe on Tuesday with a franchise first as well as a salute to the team’s past.
The Chargers unveiled two new alternate uniforms, in addition to tweaking their primary uniform kit.

This season, the Chargers will wear a gold jersey for the first time in franchise history, and they’ll pair it with gold pants. They’ll also turn back the clock to the ’90s and early 2000s with an all-navy set that’s inspired by a uniform worn by Chargers greats LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates, plus former quarterback and current head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Each of those monochromatic alternate uniforms will be worn once this season. The all-gold “Charger Power” uniform will debut Week 7 against the Colts at SoFi Stadium. The all-navy “Super Chargers” uniform will also be worn for a Chargers home game the next week when the Minnesota Vikings come to Los Angeles for a Week 8 showdown.
The Chargers’ primary uniform kit now includes powder blue pants. Although the powder blue color is synonymous with the Chargers, the team has traditionally worn white, navy or gold pants.
The Chargers posted a photo Tuesday showing off eight uniform combinations that feature their aesthetically-pleasing pallet of varying blues and of course gold and white.
The gold alternate uniform will be worn with the Chargers’ white helmet. While the Chargers had sold a gold version of their 2020 jerseys, the team has never worn a gold jersey in-game before.

According to the team website, the all-gold uniform is an homage to the Air Coryell era — in other words when former head coach Don Coryell installed a vertically-driven scheme with four-time All-Pro quarterback Dan Fouts piloting the offense. Fouts, a Hall of Famer like Coryell, led the NFL in passing four straight years from 1979-82. At the time, fans of the team wore gold “Charger Power” T-shirts to games.

And then on the all-navy uniform, “Super Chargers” is stitched in white on the neckline. That’s one of a few changes the team made from its ’90s/2000s source material when creating this Chargers alternate uniform. The others include a more streamlined bolt on the helmet, which also now features a player’s number — consistent across all the team’s current uniform sets — and more modern jersey numbers.
But the 2025 iteration is definitely recognizable, especially because of the matching navy face mask and navy helmet shell. Although the Chargers previously had a navy alternate from their 2020 uniform launch, the look was a more distanced adaptation than this year’s. It also paired a navy jersey with navy pants, but it notably included a white helmet with a navy bolt.

The Chargers have consistently worn some of the best uniforms in the NFL. They lived up to their reputation with Tuesday’s announcement.
