The Mets have high regard/hopes for right-hander Jonah Tong, so they held him out of Freddy Peralta trade talks. But Tong’s likely to begin at Triple-A Syracuse, with an eye on refining his breaking pitches to go with a big fastball and signature Vulcan changeup. They see him as a budding Peralta, who also developed a breaking pitch later after he was initially known as “Fastball Freddy.”

Barring something unforeseen (an injury perhaps?), Jasson Domínguez looks to be ticketed for Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees’ starting OF appears set with the return of Cody Bellinger.

The analytics-driven Mets front office may not place as great an emphasis on clubhouse vibe as some others. But some insiders suggest they did seek guys with an edge after a room filled with pleasant guys and pleasantries.

Bo Bichette, Devin Williams and Marcus Semien are all different and interesting personalities, and they do bring edge. Semien is a hard-driving guy who hates to miss an inning, which is always a plus.
