Tylor Megill and the Mets may still be looking for a championship ring, but the right-hander was giving another kind out recently to his significant other.
Megill proposed to his girlfriend Payton, in a heartfelt moment where the pitcher dropped to one knee and his now-fiancé looked ecstatically shocked.
The Mets Family account on Instagram posted about the news on Friday, but Payton had announced the engagement last week in a post on her own social media account, which she captioned “Future Mrs. ‘Big Drip.’”
The carousel of photos showed Megill down on one knee as he popped the question, followed by a second photo of the couple embracing after she said yes.
The pair is posed together, with Payton flashing a smile as she shows off her ring hand toward the camera, while the mountainscape in the background is visible.
Megill, who finished hits fifth season with the Mets, dropped down to one knee in a sweetly set-up area that included flower petals on the ground and lit candles in an arch shape.
The happy news comes as Megill is recovering from Tommy John surgery he underwent in September and is expected to keep him out all of the 2026 season.
Megill had started 14 games for the Mets in 2025 and posted a 3.95 ERA before inflammation in his elbow forced him onto the injured list in June.
He finished the year with 89 strikeouts over 68 ⅓ innings.
The right-hander was “bummed sitting on the sidelines” as the Mets missed the playoffs by one win last season, despite massive expectations on the team, his brother Trevor Megill revealed to The Post in October.
Trevor Megill, who pitches for the Brewers, also said that one of the few positives for his younger brother is that he will probably have some extra time in his rehab.
“It works out for him because, probably, 2027 is going to happen and we are going to have a [collective bargaining agreement] lockout,” Trevor Megill said. “It just most likely gives him a longer runway to keep getting right with his elbow, so the timing probably is pretty nice for him.
“He took a big stride this year, with all those strikeouts. He was turning a corner pretty damn good. So, he needs to get healthy and come back and keep going strong.”
