It’s survival of the fittest in the NFL each season.

Darwinism is the name of the game as we enter Week 16 of the NFL, and you’re likely running short of the teams you’d really like to target in your survivor pool.

Bye weeks are a thing of the past, as we have a fully loaded schedule with games on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Things are surely getting down to the nitty-gritty in your pick ’em pool or survivor contest, as only 10 entrants remain in the Circa Sports Survivor contest with a winner-take-all $18 million grand prize.

If you’ve gotten this far, well done.

Below, we take a look at a few of the bigger favorites and which teams to take in your very valuable entry.

Week 16 Survivor pool confidence rankings

Confidence rank Team
1 Texans (-14.5) vs. Raiders
2 Bills (-10) @ Browns
3 Saints (-4) vs. Jets
4 Lions (-7) vs. Steelers
5 Eagles (-6.5) @ Commanders
6 49ers (-6) @ Colts
7 Buccaneers (-3) @ Panthers
8 Vikings (-3) @. Giants
9 Falcons (-2.5) @ Cardinals
10 Broncos (-3) vs. Jaguars

Week 16 NFL Survivor picks

Texans (-14.5) vs. Raiders

This will be a top entry for those who remain in their survivor contests.

The Raiders are a disaster along the offensive line, and the Texans should mash whoever is starting under center for Las Vegas.

If you don’t have the Texans available this week, that’s a tough pill to swallow.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett passes as Houston Texans defensive ends Denico Autry, Danielle Hunter (55), and Will Anderson Jr. (51) pressure him.
Good luck to the Raiders offensive line dealing with this ferocious Texans offensive line. AP

We’ve been recommending targeting teams that play the Titans (Jaguars, Week 18), the Raiders and the Jets for most of the second half.

The Raiders play the Giants next week and the Chiefs in Week 18, so don’t take Kansas City this week against the Titans.

Betting on the NFL?

Saints (-4) vs. Jets

Tyler Shough has played well this season, and the Saints aren’t that bad.

The Jets are stuck, forced to start Brady Cook last week, and could be handcuffed into starting him again or hope that they get back one of Tyrod Taylor or Justin Fields.

Regardless, Gang Green is the second worst team in the NFL, ranking No. 31 in DVOA, while the Saints have quietly skyrocketed to No. 17.

That’s right, the Saints have now entered the middle ground after being one of the worst teams in the NFL this season.

Saints roll, and you’ve definitely never used New Orleans, so take them and say thank you.
