Patrick Mahomes Sr. is back behind bars after violating the conditions of his probation from a 2024 DWI.
Mahomes Sr., the father of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, is said to have drunk alcohol, which is against his probation, District Attorney Jacob Putman told KLTV in Texas.
The 55-year-old former MLBer, who played for the Mets, was booked into Smith County Jail on Tuesday.
Mahomes Sr. has been under a five-year probation sentence after he pleaded guilty to a 2024 DWI.
The DA told the local outlet that Mahomes Sr. has the right to have a hearing to contest the allegations, but court records don’t show any date for a hearing.
The father of the Chiefs quarterback has been arrested at least three times for DUI, according to TMZ, with the most recent one being that incident in 2024 that occurred shortly before Kansas City defeated the 49ers in the Super Bowl that year.
Mahomes Sr. was arrested on Feb 3. 2024 in Tyler, Texas after he was pulled over and recorded a BAC of 0.23.
Both Patrick Mahomes Sr. and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs QB, addressed the DWI incident in an episode of the ESPN docuseries, “The Kingdom.”
The elder Mahomes said in the episode that it was the “most embarrassing thing I’ve ever been through in my life” when he had to watch his son address his DWI arrest.
“It was during that Super Bowl. It became a story, and so, I had to answer questions about it,” Mahomes said in the episode, according to People. “I think just knowing that it hurt me woke him up to know that like, you can’t keep doing the same things.”
Mahomes Sr. added: “I called him right after and I told him, I said, ‘I’m sorry that it’s taking away from your time and taking away from your focus.’”
