The first time Aaron Rodgers battled Matthew Stafford in an NFL game happened before the 10th birthdays of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Bo Nix, Brock Purdy, C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young.
That’s the backdrop of the NFL playoffs, which stunningly will be held without fixtures Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson as well as past Super Bowl losers Joe Burrow and Jared Goff.
Rodgers, 42, and Stafford, 37, first met in 2009, and now are polishing up the end of Hall of Fame résumés by adding to a combined 16 career playoff victories, including one Super Bowl victory apiece. The other 12 quarterbacks in this postseason combined have 21 playoff victories, including 13 belonging to the duo of Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts.
How some of the six quarterbacks with zero career playoff victories handle the one-and-done pressure will be one of the biggest storylines of January.
