Terry McLaurin gets massive Commanders extension to end holdout drama

Scary Terry may now go by Scrooge McLaurin.

Terry McLaurin, who was holding out all offseason for a new contract, finally agreed to a massive deal to stay in Washington with the Commanders.

The three-year contract extension for the 29-year-old star receiver is worth $96 million over three years.

McLaurin now becomes one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL, with an average of $32 million per season. His deal matches the salary of the Eagles’ AJ Brown, who is the sixth-highest paid in the NFL.

The Commanders also brought in receiver Deebo Samuel this offseason to play alongside McLaurin in what is expected to be an elite offense in the NFC East.

McLaurin had previously been on the physically unable to perform list earlier in the offseason due to an ankle injury that appears to have subsided.

It appears all but a certainty that McLaurin will start in Week 1 against the Giants according to multiple reports.

Washington is certainly all in on competing for a title this year, as they’ve flipped their roster a bit by trading starting running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers.

The Commanders also drafted running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the seventh round, who has starred during training camp and looks primed to break out for a star-studded Washington offense.

Daniels, who won Offensive Rookie of the Year last season, is among the favorites to win MVP in his sophomore season after a dominant campaign that included plenty of a steady diet of McLaurin.

Washington went 12-5 last season with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, coming in second place in the NFC East, led in the receiving department by McLaurin.

McLaurin caught 13 touchdowns last season for 1,096 yards for the surging Commanders.
