Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is not throwing at OTAs as the team continues to monitor his condition.
On Tuesday, Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans cited “general soreness” as the reason for Stroud’s inactivity. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Stroud is dealing with muscle tightness in his throwing shoulder.

When asked if Stroud would be able to throw by minicamp on June 10-11, Ryans leaned toward caution and made no guarantees.
“We’re taking extra precaution with him, but he’ll be good to go, no concerns,” Ryans said.
“He has general soreness. We’re just taking extra precaution with him. When he’s ready to go, he’ll be ready to go.”
Stroud was present at voluntary workouts, and while he was not throwing at OTAs, he was in full gear and was seen mingling with fellow quarterbacks David Mills and Kedon Slovis on the field.
In his impressive sophomore season, Stroud, the No. 2 overall pick in 2023, completed 336-of-532 attempts for 3,727 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also made 52 carries for 233 rushing yards.
The Texans went 10-7 and defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in a wild-card game before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs.
