Texans vs. Cowboys ‘MNF’ player props, odds: Joe Mixon to shine

The Week 11 edition of “Monday Night Football” will feature the battle of Texas as the Houston Texans take on the Dallas Cowboys.

Injuries have dampened the potential of this matchup, but there is still plenty to work with in the player prop market.

Let’s dive into three player props you should add to your card for “Monday Night Football.”

Joe Mixon first-half touchdown (+145, FanDuel)

Running back Joe Mixon has been a revelation for the Houston Texans this season, as he’s been dominant on the ground and efficient around the goal line.

Mixon has scored in seven of the team’s 10 games played this season.

That hit rate is a big reason why his “anytime touchdown” odds are around -185. However, we can get better odds by shortening his scoring window in a great matchup.

The Cowboys are 27th in touchdowns allowed to running backs, and the Texans have shown that they will feed Mixon in the red zone. He averages more than three red-zone rush attempts per game.

Given that the Cowboys are also 31st in rushing yards allowed per game, we should see Mixon touch the ball early and often in this one. If he finds success, he’ll likely find paydirt in the first half.

Cooper Rush Under 29.5 yards on longest completion (-115, bet365)

The Cowboys’ offense has been far from explosive this season with Cooper Rush under center.

In the three times we’ve seen him, he has not been trusted to push the ball down the field, averaging just 26 air yards per game.

The lack of downfield throws has led to him averaging just 6 yards per completion, and there haven’t been many completions either, as he’s completed 56 percent of his attempts.

Then, you factor in the matchup against a Houston secondary that has been stout. The Texans rank third in passing yards allowed per game and are No. 1 in terms of completion percentage against them.

Lastly, Rush’s primary target and potential big play threat, CeeDee Lamb, is banged up coming into this matchup. Lamb is on the injury report with a minor back injury and is still playing through a shoulder injury he sustained two weeks ago.

All of this points toward Rush having another quiet night in the yardage category.

Eric Kendricks over 8.5 Tackles +Assists (-110, DraftKings)

We’ve already drawn out the game script of the Texans dominating on offense while keeping the Cowboys’ offense on the sidelines.

That means there should be additional opportunities for the Cowboys’ defenders to rack up tackles.

Betting on the NFL?

While Micah Parsons gets the spotlight on this defense, middle linebacker Eric Kendricks is the guy making the majority of plays this season. Kendricks has recorded at least nine tackles and assists in seven of 10 games this season and is averaging 10 per game.

This is a volume play, and Kendricks has proven to be a high-volume tackler.

Look for him to be very involved in attempting to contain Mixon, but he’ll also be in the middle of the field to wrap up crossing routes from receivers.
