Two people were shot and killed at a Florida Walgreens, about a mile from TPC Sawgrass, delaying the Saturday opening of the gates at the Players Championship.
The shooting took place at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, according to the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Alleged gunman Christian Barrios was arrested on Saturday morning, according to News 4 Jax, after being tracked down by canines.
Barrios, 32, allegedly knew the victims, and the violent act was tied to a domestic situation, Action News Jax reported.
The gunman entered PGA Tour property and confronted an employee, Sheriff Rob Hardwick said.
He allegedly picked up and dropped a PGA Tour radio at one point while fleeing. He also allegedly stole a BMW and committed a burglary while on the run, authorities said.
Gates at TPC Sawgrass did not open until 9 a.m., but tee times were unchanged, and Seamus Power took his first swing at 8:15 a.m. Hospitality started at 11 a.m., according to Golf Channel.
