There was a scary moment in West Virginia when a defensive player was stretched off the field during a play he wasn’t involved in.
With the Mountaineers’ about to punt after getting stalled by the Kansas defense late in the second quarter, defensive back Aubrey Burks was down on the sidelines and attended to by the team’s medical and training staff.
He was eventually put into a neck brace and stretchered off the field.
ESPN reported Burks was then taken to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown with the unspecified injury.
It’s not clear when or how Burks would have suffered the injury.
Burks had a similar scare last year when he had to be put into a brace and stretchered off the field, something he called one of the “scariest injuries I’ve had in my career playing football.”
He was hospitalized after being motionless on the field for about eight minutes, but he returned to action after missing a little less than a month.
