Ben Simmons may be gone, but the ramifications of his departure aren’t.
The Nets reached a buyout agreement with Simmons over the weekend. They’ll lose his playmaking and size, but gain a roster spot and some cap relief.
It remains to be seen exactly what the Nets will do with both — and his vacated minutes now suddenly are up for grabs.
“[We] appreciate his time and work with the group; now it’s time for both sides to move on and see what we’ve got here. So we’re excited with the group of guys we have,” head coach Jordi Fernandez said. “Ben is Ben, and now whoever plays, you’ve got to be yourself. And it’s on me to figure it out, figure out what’s best for the group.
