The wife of missing Virginia football coach Travis Turner denied allegations that her husband was involved in child pornography and attempts to have sex with a minor.
“I don’t know anything. I don’t know anything. I’m sorry,” wife Leslie Turner, 46, told The Daily Mail Tuesday after police announced the alarming allegations against her husband.
The 46-year-old coach was being investigated for five counts of possession of child pornography along with using a computer to solicit a minor – but his wife insisted all of that was false and that her husband was a family man.
“None of that is true. He’s a good dad and a good husband,” she said.
Police were headed to Turner’s Appalachia home to question him for their investigation Thursday, but were informed that he wasn’t home and was missing.
He hasn’t been seen since, and a search has been underway to locate the coach.
His wife says their family has been distraught since he vanished — and are standing by him.
“We want him home. That’s it,” she said. “We are all just hanging in there until we get news.”
She also brushed off rumors that he’d been spotted with a rifle since his disappearance, telling the Mail she was “told not to comment.”
Turner was the head football coach at Union High School in nearby Big Stone Gap – where a staffer was recently placed on leave and barred from school grounds or interacting with students.
Both the school and Turner’s wife have declined to confirm whether he was the individual placed on leave.
Turner was a celebrated member of the town, which revered its football team.
He was leading the team on an undefeated streak prior to his disappearance.
