The Yankees brought up an outfielder from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, but it wasn’t Jasson Dominguez.

Instead, the team’s top prospect remained in the minors when rosters expanded to 28 prior to the series finale against the Cardinals in The Bronx, and the Yankees recalled Duke Ellis, a 26-year-old speedster they claimed off waivers from the Mariners last week.

He then suffered an oblique strain that cost him over a month in the minors.

He was called up to the Yankees for a game in July as the team’s 27th man and went hitless and made a poor play that helped cost them the game.

The 22-year-old Dominguez has nine homers with SWB this season and can still be called up at any time and be eligible for the postseason.

Ellis has appeared in eight games in the majors — all this season with the White Sox — primarily as a pinch-runner.

He’s bounced around this season, going from the White Sox to the Mets on waivers and then Seattle.

He appeared in just one game for Scranton before being promoted.

Additionally, the Yankees recalled right-hander Scott Effross after he came back from 2022 Tommy John surgery, as well as Ron Marinaccio.

To make room on the roster, the Yankees optioned first baseman Ben Rice and right-hander Will Warren to SWB and designated lefty Josh Maciejewski for assignment.
