IDF troops killed multiple “armed militants” in Gaza Friday who attempted to loot a truck stocked with humanitarian aid intended for Palestinians, military officials said.
As the Israeli military was conducting an operation to secure a humanitarian corridor in the Rafah area, the IDF Givati brigade’s Tzabar battalion identified armed gunmen surrounding one of the cargo trucks and later on top of the vehicle.
As the gunmen tried to make their getaway via car, the IDF subsequently launched a drone strike on the fleeing vehicle, killing those inside, footage showed.
Another gunman who tried to run away from the car was also killed in an IDF strike, according to video.
Since Oct. 7, the IDF has repeatedly foiled attempts by terrorists to steal humanitarian aid in Gaza intended for civilians in the Palestinian territory.
In June, the United Nations and international aid organizations said the pervasion of lawlessness in southern Gaza had made a promised secure trade corridor unusable.
At the time, a UN official said groups of armed men were regularly blocking aid convoys and holding drivers at gunpoint as they combed their supplies.
