A student pilot has miraculously walked away unscathed from a wild plane crash on the tarmac of an Adelaide airport – with footage capturing the moment the aircraft burst into flames.

Emergency services crews rushed to Parafield Airport in Adelaide’s north about 12:30 p.m. on Monday following reports of a collision involving a small aircraft.

Footage captures smoke billowing from the scene of the crash as flames erupt from the wreckage.

Witnesses recounted seeing the plane “burning” but couldn’t see if anyone was inside due to the intensity of the flames.

The 21-year-old student pilot, Youngin Kim, was the sole occupant of the aircraft when it crashed.

It was his third solo flight.

“I feel lucky,” Kim said following the incident, 7 News reports.

“I just want to practice more and fly better.

A South Australian Police spokesperson said it is believed the aircraft landed heavily and caught fire after the impact. 7News

7 News reports was on his first solo circuit of the day when the emergency occurred, and he was travelling slower than usual on approach when he tried to adjust his speed, before touching down.

No other planes were involved, and the pilot and sole occupant of the plane was not injured.

An Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) spokesperson said they have been notified of a light aircraft incident at the airport.

The ATSB is currently gathering further information regarding the incident.
