Vile footage captured the moment an irate man slapped a woman in the face for refusing to give up her seat in a Colombian airport terminal — prompting a massive brawl as bystanders rushed to her defense.
The shocking scene went down Sunday night at Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport, when Hector Santacruz walked up to Claudia Segura and demanded that he give up her seat, the Daily Mail reported.
Segura had apparently sat in the seat next to Santacruz’s wife while he was away, and he became irate when she refused to give it up.
“Get up or I’ll get you up,” Santacruz said, according to local outlet El Tiempo.
He then turned to somebody and told them to make sure they were filming the altercation, and smacked Segura’s phone out of her hand — then slapped her across the face.
“He hits me on the hand, knocks off my phone, and hits me hard in the face and head. The magnitude of the impact knocked my earring off,” she told El Tiempo.
Other travelers at the gate were audibly shocked — with several men leaping to Segura’s defense and shoving Santacruz away.
More piled in as he tried to swat them away and shouted angrily, and his wife eventually leapt into the fray and tried to calm everybody down.
Footage from minutes later showed Segura lying on the ground while airport staff tended to her injuries.
Santacruz was then led away in handcuffs by security as onlookers cheered and applauded.
Segura was later taken to an urgent care in town for treatment.
“I am affected and very afraid,” she said of her state of mind after the incident, adding that she only sat in the fateful seat because it appeared completely unattended.
“When I got to the waiting area, everything was completely full, and I only saw one empty chair,” she told El Tiempo.
“I didn’t have any bags or clothes on me to indicate it was occupied, so I sat down.”
Santacruz’s wife, Karen, told her the seat was taken, but Segura was finishing a work call and stayed seated.
It remains unclear whether Santacruz is facing any charges.
But his wife is evidently livid.
“The person shown physically assaulting a woman is my husband. And you don’t know how much it hurts me to say this out loud,” Karen said in an apology video posted to Instagram, according to the Daily Mail.
“It really hurts me as a woman, as a mother,” she added.
