U.S. — Death row inmates all across the United States reportedly placed urgent requests to have their executions performed by all-female teams.
After seeing the results from Tennessee’s all-female execution team, death row inmates immediately called up their lawyers to demand that they too could get lady executioners.
“I just really want to support women. I’m super down with the feminist cause and all that,” said death row inmate Charles Barrow, explaining his request. “How many lady executioners do you see in movies? They’re so underrepresented in the field. There’s such a stigma around it, and I want to be a part of changing that.”
Female execution teams were reportedly overwhelmed by the outpouring of requests. “It’s amazing to finally get recognition not because of our gender, but because of the quality of our work,” said woman executioner Marissa Jensen. “They saw the results of what we do and said, ‘Yes! I’m choosing them!’ It means a lot to get that kind of reception.”
At publishing time, the inmates had, however, requested that the medical team on standby during the execution be all-male.
