MADISON, WI — Local man Brad Pulman admitted to friends that all the knowledge he has ever obtained about classical music he received by watching classic Bugs Bunny cartoons.
“Oh, yeah. The Barber of Seville? That’s by Italian composer Gioachino Rossini,” Pulman said. “Of course, most know it by its more common name, the Rabbit of Seville. I can hear it in my head right now as I picture Bugs massaging hair tonic into Elmer Fudd’s scalp.”
Pulman said he learned a wide array of classical music pieces, with all of them being heard while watching “What’s Opera Doc”, “The Rabbit of Seville” and other classic Bugs Bunny opera parodies.
“Wagner, he’s amazing. The way his music builds, brings tragedy into Greek mythos, and then there’s the spear and magic helmet. Magic helmet? YESSSSS, MAGIC HEEEEEEELLLMET!”
Pulman’s wife Clarissa admitted to being very impressed by her husband’s classical music knowledge and asked him to show her where he learned it all, a request that thrilled Pulman to his core.
“There’s no greater classical music education than Bugs Bunny,” Pulman explained. “Take ‘Long-Haired Hare,’ for example. Bugs teaches an obnoxious opera singer a lesson while conducting a masterful symphony performance at the Hollywood Bowl. Exquisite.”
At publishing time, Pulman had told his wife that he learned at least 85% of his vocabulary from Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side.
After a slight mixup, Steve, Timpani, and Britunni end up at the Alamo instead of the Alamo Car Rental. Protestors block their way out and Timpani is going into labor!
