Rocks on the road.

Alanis Morissette knows the ugly side of show business. Beginning as a child actress, she later reportedly made statutory rape allegations against adult males around her in a documentary: ‘They’re all pedophiles’

From a teen dance-pop star in Canada, she ascended into rock stardom, with her first album Jagged Little Pill selling more than 33 million copies worldwide.

In total, she has sold more than 60 million records worldwide and won 7 Grammy Awards plus 14 Juno Awards.

But now, at 52, still touring, she is involved in back-and-forth lawsuits against a former tour manager that she accuses of a ‘calculated blackmail campaign’.

Page Six reported:

“On Tuesday, the singer filed a complaint alleging her ‘disgruntled’ ex-employee Keren Urinov threatened to report her for drug trafficking, according to court docs.”

Urinov reportedly filed her own suit against Morissette 13 days before. At this point, it is unclear what allegations she is making against the singer.

“Morissette claimed Urinov attempted to extort the Grammy winner into ‘employ[ing] her as a tour director for fifteen years and pay[ing] her massive compensation’, per the filing.”

Morisette wants a jury trial and compensation of over $75,000.

“She alleged that in June 2025, Urinov’s bag was seized at the airport while flying to Spain for a concert for allegedly containing marijuana and xylazine, a non-opioid animal tranquilizer.

[…] However, Morissette claimed Urinov and her attorney then ‘sent a series of increasingly extortionate letters’ and threatened to ‘file a patently frivolous lawsuit against Morissette in the United Kingdom for unspecified claims if Morissette refused to tell British that the alleged drugs were hers’.”

NME reported:

“The filing was made yesterday (Tuesday September 1) at a federal court in , and saw the singer call her 2025 European tour manager, Keren Urinov, “a disgruntled” former employee, and accuse her of extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.

[…] ‘Alanis Morissette is the victim of a calculated blackmail campaign orchestrated by a disgruntled former tour manager’, the filing (obtained by Rolling Stone) read. ‘Morissette will not agree to work with an incompetent blackmailer for the next 15 years or pay her a ransom under the gun’.

‘Morissette is not interested in employing Urinov for 15 years… Not only because she is a blackmailer, but also because she was a terrible manager of the 2025 tour’, it added, also claiming that Urinov once made a mistake in booking a hotel that cost the singer $70,000.”
