A sold-out crowd of thousands spilled on to Santa Clara streets after Bruno Mars‘ performance at Levi’s Stadium Saturday night.
The pop star was performing two shows at the stadium over the weekend, marking the final two US stops of The Romantics Tour.
Traffic chaos around the venue isn’t a new phenomenon as the area frequently experiences severe gridlock, long multi-hour delays and major road closures following big events.

“Traffic took like a maximum of two hours getting out,” Alyssa Ariel of Fremont told NBC Bay Area.
Oakland resident, Gizelle M., packed extra batteries, suspecting that she could be stuck in traffic for a long time. “It’s horrible,” she told the news outlet.
An X user took to the social media platform to share a giddy realization after he had sold his concert ticket.
“I saw what that Levi Stadium crowd looked like last night … Never been happier to sell a ticket in my life,” the user posted.
The Santa Clara Police Department had also issued a traffic advisory ahead of Mars’ performances over the weekend, warning drivers to anticipate major delays and street closures across the South Bay.
Authorities said that heavy congestion was expected on Highways 101, 237 and 880, as well as on Lawrence, Great America and San Tomas expressways, with Tasman Drive remaining closed from 1:30 a.m. Saturday through the end of Sunday’s event.
According to the traffic advisory, authority-directed detours were expected to affect vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians including a closure of the San Tomas Aquino/Saratoga Creek Trail at Agnew Road starting at 8 a.m on both days.
The police department also said that parking lots will open at 4 p.m for pre-purchased permit holders only, and rideshare pick-ups will be restricted to Red Lot 7.
Mars will take the stage again at Levi’s Stadium at 7 p.m. Sunday for his final Santa Clara show before wrapping up his tour next weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia.
