Celeste Rivas allegedly aborted baby with singer D4vd, apparent text messages suggest

Celeste Rivas was only 13 years old when she allegedly aborted a baby with singer D4vd, new text messages suggest.

The alleged messages, presented during court proceedings Thursday, show Rivas and David Anthony Burke, the musician known as D4vd, discussing the pregnancy in January 2024, when Burke was 18, prosecutors said.

In the exchange, Burke allegedly apologized to Rivas, writing: “I’m sorry again baby i didnt want to ever put you through this.”

Rivas allegedly responded: “No its ok. Don’t worry both of us are able to take care of it.”

“Don’t worry about it my love,” she later wrote, according to the messages.

Burke allegedly told Rivas: “You so much stronger than me. I love you.”

“I love you more my love. Its ok though neither of us are capable of watching the baby,” Rivas allegedly replied.

The pair then appeared to discuss when the abortion would happen.

“When you gonna get it done?” Burke allegedly asked.

“Two days,” Rivas responded.

Burke also appeared to question whether he was the father, writing: “My mom said I have to ask this question, don’t get offended, but is it mine?”

“Of course it is David,” Rivas allegedly replied.

Messages from the following day, Jan. 9, 2024, allegedly suggested the abortion had been completed.

The texts were revealed during the preliminary hearing for Burke, who faces charges of first-degree murder, child sexual abuse and body mutilation in connection with Rivas’ death.

Prosecutors allege Burke first met Rivas when she was 11 years old and that a sexual relationship began in November 2023, when he was 18 and she was 13.

During that period, Rivas was repeatedly reported missing as a runaway from Lake Elsinore, California.

Authorities allege Rivas was killed on April 23, 2025, after threatening to expose the relationship.

Prosecutors claim Burke feared the scandal would destroy his music career and interfere with the release of his debut album, “Withered,” which was set to drop two days later.

Investigators allege Burke called an Uber to bring Rivas to his Hollywood Hills home, where he stabbed her to death.

Her remains were discovered months later, on Sept. 8, 2025, inside the front trunk, known as the “frunk,” of a Tesla Model X registered to Burke.

The vehicle had reportedly been abandoned on a Hollywood Hills street for more than a month while Burke was away on tour.

After it was towed to a local yard, workers and detectives discovered the remains inside a cadaver bag.

The decomposition was so severe that the medical examiner used dental records to confirm Rivas’ identity.

During the preliminary hearing, prosecutors have presented what they describe as a mountain of forensic and digital evidence, including material recovered from Burke’s iPhone 15.

Investigators testified the phone contained photos, videos, financial information and communications involving Rivas.

They also said the device contained what they identified as child sexual abuse material involving an underage victim.

Prosecutors also detailed alleged purchases they say were part of a cover-up effort, including two chainsaws, heavy-duty body bags, a burn cage and a blue inflatable pool ordered through Amazon under an alias.

Authorities said blue plastic fragments recovered from Rivas’ remains were matched by experts to the inflatable pool.

Prosecutors further allege Burke removed Rivas’ left ring and pinky fingers, which were never recovered, in an effort to destroy a tattoo of his name, “Celeste,” that they say matched a tattoo on Burke’s own finger.

The preliminary hearing began Tuesday, at a downtown Los Angeles courtroom and is expected to last between four and nine days because of the volume of forensic and financial evidence.

Burke, now 21, was arrested in April 2026 and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

His defense attorneys have maintained his innocence.
