City Council demands probe of woke NYC school where students performed anti-cop dance

A bipartisan trio of NYC Councilmembers is demanding federal and city investigations into a woke Upper West Side school where fifth-graders pantomimed getting shot by police during a twisted dance routine.

“This is outrageous but unsurprising. Leftists have long used our public schools for political indoctrination, and this is yet another new low,” Republican Queens Councilwoman Vickie Paladino said in the wake of The Post’s front page story about the performance at PS 075, The Emily Dickinson School.

Paladino called for the federal Department of Education along with the Department of Justice to investigate NYC schools. Neither agency returned requests for comment.

The students were dancing to the song “Glory” by John Legend and rapper Common, whose lyrics refer to the Ferguson, Missouri, riots that erupted after white police officer Darren Wilson shot and killed black teen Michael Brown after he allegedly tried to seize the cop’s firearm.

The students collapsed to the ground in unison to these lyrics: “That’s why we walk through Ferguson with our hands up/When it go down we woman and man up/They say, ‘Stay down,’ and we stand up/Shots, we on the ground, the camera panned up.”

Democratic Queens Councilmen Phil Wong and Republican Staten Island Councilman Frank Morano also called for the City Council Education Committee to probe woke indoctrination in Big Apple schools in light of the incident.

“The Council’s Education Committee should examine how political activism is making its way into our classrooms, because this kind of messaging only undermines respect for the brave men and women of law enforcement who keep our communities safe,” said Wong, a member of that committee.

“The classroom should be a place where children learn to read, write, think critically and respect one another, not where they’re used as props to push a political agenda. Having 10- and 11-year-olds pretend to be shot by police is as offensive as it is irresponsible,” Morano said.

The head of the Police Benevolent Association — the country’s largest police union representing over 21,000 NYPD officers — bashed the school for what it called brainwashing students to hate law enforcement.

“The saddest part is that these kids might one day need help from a police officer, but they’ve been pumped so full of hatred and fear that they’ll hesitate to reach out. Anti-police indoctrination in our schools makes everyone less safe,” PBA President Patrick Hendry said.

Parents at the school were outraged and demanded accountability, and said that this event wasn’t the first time teachers injected their virulent far left views into the classroom.

“What made this especially concerning to me was the impact I saw on my own daughter. She came home expressing feelings of guilt about being white and adopting anti-ICE and anti-Trump views, even though discussions about ICE, immigration enforcement, or the president’s policies were never part of our conversations at home,” one enraged parent told The Post.
