A garbage truck driver who allegedly struck and killed a Brooklyn woman as she crossed the street last week was charged Wednesday, police said.

Timothy A. McVey, 41, was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care in connection to the Oct. 28 evening crash in Bath Beach that killed Siobhan Lynch, 30, authorities said.

McVey initially stayed on scene and did not immediately face charges, police said.

On Wednesday, however, McVey was issued a desk appearance ticket at the 42nd Precinct station, requiring him to appear in court at a later date.

Lynch sister, Shannon, 30, told The Post about McVey that she was “sure he didn’t mean to kill my sister” — but she still expected more serious charges.

“It’s shocking.  The desk appearance ticket? It is very shocking the way this is being handled,” she said.

McVey was attempting to make a right turn onto Bay Parkway when he crashed into Lynch at Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue, according to the NYPD.

The impact threw Lynch onto the pavement, where she suffered severe trauma to her body, police said.

She was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Lynch was a graphic and web designer who graduated from CUNY’s City Tech in 2022, according to her LinkedIn profile. She also was animal advocate who fostered animals, her sister said.

Shannon Lynch, posted a photo on Facebook of the two together, celebrating their 30th birthdays and forming a heart with their hands.

“My gorgeous twin sister and I on our 30th birthday,” she wrote in the heartbreaking caption. “If only I knew it would be the last birthday we had together. I’m truly broken forever.”

On Thursday, she told The Post, that she knew what it was like to operate a big vehicle, as she drives an ambulance herself, and she thought that McVey should have been more aware of the vehicle’s “blind spot.”

“We’re aware of that blind spot! Anyone who drives the garbage trucks is aware of that blind spot! So my question to him, where were you rushing to?” she asked.

The  city’s Department of Sanitation said: “Given the ongoing nature of the case, we can’t say more other than to reiterate our prior statement that this is a terrible tragedy, and our thoughts are with the family of the victim. We will assist the NYPD in any way we can as the process continues.”
