The federal agent who killed his nurse girlfriend in the Bronx got on the phone with her father after fatally shooting her and uttered chilling final words — before turning the gun on himself, the heartbroken dad told The Post.
“He actually told me, ‘she’s gone, Rudy” when I heard the gunshot. ‘She’s gone, Rudy,” Retired NYPD officer Rudy Cantarini said of his daughter 37-year-old daughter Andrea Cantarini’s terrifying final moments.
Cantarini said his daughter had called him at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday night “begging for her life” and that she stayed on the phone with him while her boyfriend Juan Cornelio Diaz, 38, allegedly shot her in the head inside her Riverdale apartment.
“I have to live with this the rest of my life, and she was the apple of eye,” Rudy Cantarini told The Post. “She just didn’t want to be in a relationship with the guy anymore, and he couldn’t take it, so he did the cowards thing, and he killed her and himself.
Diaz, a US Customs and Border Patrol Officer stationed at JFK airport, was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to his head.
