Macron does something historic, at last: becomes the most unpopular French president in recorded history.
His downward trajectory seems to have no end.
As failed French president Emmanuel Macron drags himself along to finish his second and final presidential term, we see him striving to make a mark, to leave some sort of legacy other than chaos and social upheaval.
So, he tries to ban social media for teens, in the name of ‘Child protection online’; he defends ‘Space sovereignty’ with his flopped Space Summit in Paris;
He doubles down on defense, rearmament, and power projection, just as France got kicked out of Africa by its former colonies.
He meddles in the creative industries with his Lumière Summit;
And, of course, pursues flashy, news-worthy initiatives like his Palestine recognition.
But, as it seems, all this frantic activity is not working with the French people.

16% approval in new Ipsos poll, worse than the Yellow Vest crisis, approaching Hollande-level rejection.
Even among his own camp’s supporters, favorability dropped 19 points.

“The French public continues to sour on President Emmanuel Macron, whose popularity has fallen to a record low as the race to replace him in the Élysée Palace is starting to ramp up.
The latest survey from Ipsos bva-CESI has found that President Macron’s popularity rating in France stands at just 16 per cent, a new record low after falling from 21 per cent in July, Le Figaro reported.
Even among supporters of Macron’s centrist governing bloc — the Horizons, Modem, and Renaissance parties — only 53 per cent still have a favorable view of the president.”
French People Turning Away from Macron
The president’s approval rating has dropped to 16%. This is the lowest result of his presidency. 81% of French people negatively evaluate his policies, which is seven percentage points higher than in July.

Macron’s 7th Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, is also collapsing, with only 20 per cent support, down from 27 per cent in July.
Eurasia Daily reported:
“It is noted that Macron lost 5 percentage points compared to the poll conducted last month, and the level of disapproval of his work reached 81%, which is 7% more than in August.
‘For him, this is even worse than in the days of the ‘yellow vests… We see how all the problems related to the dissolution of the National Assembly are exacerbated: budget problems, falling purchasing power’, said Ipsos-Bva Deputy CEO Bryce Tinthurier.
As Tinturier noted, the idea that everything is out of order is growing in French society.”
