Far-left Democrat Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed declared Michigan the “capital of Arab America” on Friday, just days after winning election to the U.S. Senate.
El-Sayed, an Egyptian Muslim with close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, made the claim while addressing the CONNECT Arab America Empowerment Summit in Virginia.
“I’m honored to be the next United States senator from the great state of Michigan,” El-Sayed said
“I know we’re here in D.C., which of course is the capital of the United States of America. But Michigan is the capital of Arab America.”

El-Sayed’s declaration comes after the progressive Democrat defeated Republican Mike Rogers to capture Michigan’s open Senate seat.
The former gubernatorial candidate ran on an aggressively progressive platform and ended up winning by a comfortable margins, despite his primary opponent Haley Stevens choosing to endorse Rogers.
His program included advocating Medicare for All, a $20 federal minimum wage, sweeping climate policies, ending U.S. military assistance to Israel and advocating for the continued Islamification of America.
Michigan is home to one of America’s largest Arab-American populations, concentrated heavily around Detroit.
Its size is estimated at around 400,000 and growing.

Dearborn, where nearly half the population reports Arab ancestry, has emerged as the community’s political center and votes on strictly sectarian lines.
The region is already represented in Congress by Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian-American and one of the founding members of the group lf far-left lawmakers known as “The Squad.”
In the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump carried the state by just under 1.5 points over Democrat Kamala Harris.
