Facebook Marketplace buyer murdered seller over petty BMW- Mercedes argument

A Facebook Marketplace buyer gunned down a seller over a petty argument about whether BMW made better high-end cars than Mercedes-Benz.

Omar Brogdon, 31, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole in Michigan last week for murdering married 38-year-old seller Orhan Hosic, who was blind in one eye as a result of a childhood cancer battle, according to MLive.

“You shot out the only eye he could see out of,” Hosic’s stepmother told Brogdon in a victim impact statement read at his sentencing in court in Flint.

“This is something you will have to live with for the rest of your life.”

Brogdon had driven to Hosic’s home in Fenton Township, 15 miles south of Flint, in July 2024 to buy two Corvette seats, which were later found inside Brogdon’s orange Camaro, police have said.

But the planned sale turned deadly when the pair started fighting over which German manfucaturer, BMW or Mercedes, made better cars, police previously revealed.

Hosic was found lying in a pool of blood at the bottom of his garage stairs with multiple gunshot wounds.

Brogdon was arrested two weeks later, with forensics matching his gun to the bullets used in the murder as well as bloody footprints at the scene.

He also had the victim’s phone.

The killer claimed he had fired in self-defense.

“It was an unfortunate event. I was scared. I was cornered,” he told the judge during his sentencing.

Brogdon was found guilty of second-degree murder, felony murder, armed robbery, and three counts of felony firearm in April.

“Today, justice was served for Mr. Hosic. Hopefully, this will allow his grieving family and friends to begin the long path toward closure in this sad and tragic incident,” Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement following April’s guilty verdict.
