Family member reveals siblings’ dispute before North Carolina mass shooting that left 3 dead: report

The mass shooting that left three family members dead and another hospitalized in rural North Carolina may have been sparked by a conflict over land, a relative has reportedly claimed.

A family member said Wednesday’s shooting stemmed from a dispute among siblings over 150 acres of land after the death of their parents, ABC11 reported.

Authorities in rural Caswell County, where the shooting occurred, confirmed that everyone involved was in the same family, although they have not released the names of the victims or possible motive for the crime.

The shooter died along with two victims; one other victim survived and was hospitalized with gunshot wounds, the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office said in a Wednesday press conference.

The sheriff had no further updates to provide as of Thursday afternoon, the office told The Post.

The shooting erupted in Caswell County, north of Raleigh, before 8 a.m., according to Sheriff Tony Durden.

“One person was transferred to Duke University Hospital with gunshot wounds and we do not have a condition,” Durden told reporters.

Authorities have not yet released information about the victims or suspect “out of respect to the family,” the sheriff added.

The shooting occurred at or near a house in an unincorporated corner of Caswell County — a rural region on the Virginia border of around 22,000 people.
