The 6-year-old girl who plunged alongside her brother and father from a Pennsylvania parking garage was battling a rare genetic developmental disorder before the harrowing murder-suicide, resurfaced reports reveal.

Little Caroline Lynch; her 8-year-old brother, James Lynch, and the kids’ father, Patrick Lynch, were all pronounced dead at the scene after an “apparent fall” from a parking garage in Mt. Lebanon, an affluent suburb of Pittsburgh, at around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

“Preliminary information suggests that this incident is a murder-suicide,” the county police department confirmed.

Caroline Lynch was diagnosed with Williams syndrome, which impacts growth, cognition and the cardiovascular system, and other life-threatening ailments shortly after her birth, according to a 2025 interview with her mother in Mt. Lebanon Magazine.

“When she was born in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, we found out she had Williams syndrome and heart and lung disease,” Anna Lynch told the outlet.

“I didn’t know anyone raising a child with a disability, and I didn’t know where to start.”

It was not clear what led Patrick Lynch to allegedly kill his children and himself, but Mt. Lebanon Police Chief Jason Haberman previously struggled to hide his emotions as he told reporters at the scene that it was being investigated “not as an accident.”
