A golden retriever is going viral for wagging his tail and happily greeting an intruder with a stuffed toy.
An intruder broke into a San Diego, California, home earlier this month and was greeted by the family’s golden retriever, Nash.
The homeowners, Dante Rowley and Stephanie Calderon, were on a plane when they received a Ring camera alert and saw the intruder in their home.
A man climbed a ladder, broke into the residence, and made himself at home by eating snacks and even napping.
Nash wagged his tail and brought the intruder three different stuffed toys, wanting to play.
Rowley, who was watching all of this unfold remotely, contacted the San Diego Police Department and gave the officers access to his Ring camera feed.
Police arrived to their Sherman Heights neighborhood home and deployed a police drone inside the home.
The drone chased the intruder across the living room before police entered the home with their weapons drawn.
Nash also happily greeted the armed police officers as they entered the home and made an arrest.
The intruder was charged with burglary and had outstanding warrants, according to NBC San Diego.
“Nash is not the greatest guard dog,” Rowley said to the outlet. “We thought that he would be barking at people and he did the exact opposite.”
