Jamie Komoroski’s dad’s astonishing words of sympathy in jailhouse call after daughter killed bride on her wedding day

Jamie Komoroski’s dad sympathized with his daughter in a jailhouse call where she whined about being locked away “so long” for drunkenly mowing down a bride on her wedding day, newly released video shows.

Komoroski, then 25, sobbed in a call with her dad Charles in May 2023, a month on from the smash in Folly Beach, South Carolina that killed new bride Samantha Hutchinson, 34, and injured her husband, Aric.

“I still just don’t know why this had to happen to me,” Komoroski complained in a video of the jailhouse call seen by KSLA.

“Because bad things happen to good people, honey,” her dad sympathized, without addressing the cause of his daughter’s arrest.

“It’s just something that happened to you, and we are going to deal with it as best as we can, okay,” he said, trying to reassure his daughter.

The killer driver further complained about being a victim, saying, “I just can’t believe this happened to me. Why me, Dad, why me?”

Later in the call, Komoroski bizarrely attacked the media and expressed fears about backlash potentially coming her way following her release from custody.

“That’s just, like, makes me scared that the media is so involved in it,” she said. “Why are they so involved in it?”

Charles claimed it was because her case “sold newspapers,” but Komoroski just complained even more.

“But that’s not going to help me like, Oh my God. It’s going to be so bad when I get out. Everybody’s going to be so mean to me,’ she said.

Komoroski sobbed as her dad warned, “You got to get tough.”

“I’m just scared, dad,” she said. “I don’t want to go away for so, so long.”

“Well, listen, we’re doing everything we can,” he said, desperately trying to ease her concerns.

Komoroski was sentenced to 25 years in prison in December 2024 after pleading guilty to felony DUI, two counts of DUI causing great bodily injury or death and reckless homicide.

Komoroski was defiant while in custody following her initial arrest.

She was driving her Toyota rental car at 65mph when she smashed into the golf cart carrying newlywed couple Samantha and Aric.

Samantha, 34, was flung from the cart and was pronounced dead at the scene. Aric, 36, was hospitalized with facial injuries.

A defiant Komoroski refused to follow police instructions at the scene and moaned that cops didn’t grant her a call to her father while in custody following her initial arrest.

“I just wanna like, get this over with and go home,” she told one cop.

She also asked, “What did I do?” refusing to acknowledge the severity of the crash.

She refused to provide a breath sample – despite being arrested on allegations of DUI.

Komoroski was later found with a blood alcohol content of 0.261% – more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 in South Carolina.
