The MTA and unions representing LIRR workers reached a deal to end the railroad strike, officials announced on Monday.
“Tonight, the @MTA reached a fair deal with the five LIRR unions that delivers raises for workers while protecting riders and taxpayers,” Gov. Kathy Hochul wrote in a statement.
“I’m pleased to announce that phased LIRR service will resume beginning tomorrow at noon.”
The short-lived strike began at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and wrecked havoc, especially on Monday when hundreds of thousands commuters were forced to either find travel alternatives or work remotely.
