The Food and Drug Administration said the recall was initiated by the company, which is telling customers to throw away the rice or return it for a refund. Lundberg Family Farms said it has received no reports of customers getting sick, according to KCRA.

The rice is subject to a Class II recall, which the FDA defines as a situation that could lead to “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences” if exposed to the tainted substance.

The FDA said the recall is due to “potential contamination with foreign materials.”

A Lundberg Family Farms spokesperson told PEOPLE, “The affected product was removed from store shelves several months ago,” adding, “The incident was isolated to a single production run, and no illnesses were reported from consumption of the affected product.”
