A New Jersey woman was seriously injured after she was struck by a car while trying to help a deer that had been hit by another vehicle, police said.

Mount Olive police and Morris County prosecutors said the 24-year-old woman was mowed down by an SUV heading south on Patricia Drive around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, when police were called to the scene, according to NJ.com

Cops reportedly found her in the darkened road near a deer that that had been struck some time earlier, according to WRJN radio.

She was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver who struck the 24-year-old, a 29-year-old Flanders woman, was uninjured and remained on the scene and waited for police to arrive, Patch reports

Authorities are investigating the harrowing accident. 

The injured woman’s current condition is not immediately available. 

The Mount Olive Police Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
